It’s Not Just You.

Today is October 1, and I am being honest with myself. I vowed that I would do better this year. Did I follow through on everything I said I would do? No. But last month, I changed my mind about how I was going to finish.
I worked my butt off in September. I kept thinking about moms raising children diagnosed with autism, our children, and everybody connected to this community. What are we missing? What could actually help us? What could we build that looks different from the same things we keep seeing?
I have been online for a long time, but this is the first time I have been this serious about taking things to the next level. That is why this blog is here. I want a place where I can talk, share what is happening in my life, and say some of the things autism moms are living through that do not always get said properly.
Because it is not just you.
It is not just you staying up all night worrying. It is not just you staying awake because you are afraid your child might elope. It is not just you struggling to find a job that works with what your family needs, then having to get strategic about how you are going to make an income and provide.
So many of us are carrying these things. I want us to have a place where we can hear somebody say it out loud and know we are not the only ones.
I hope you enjoy this website, and I hope you visit TruBlu Brotherz at trublubrotherz.com. That is my brand, and I am excited about what we are building there. I want autistic children to have a cool look, but I also want them to have something that belongs to them. Books about autistic children. Book bags. Shirts. Things that let them see themselves in their own lane and feel empowered by what they see.
It can also be a teaching tool for people who do not know much about autism. There is room to learn, room to connect, and room to see our children in a different way.
For October, I am making some changes for myself, too. I want to move my body more and be more intentional about how I am eating. I want to get grounded and stay focused on what God is doing in my life and in this community.
I am not here to tell you this is the very best community. I am telling you this community is different. It is built on truth. Truth Built Like Us.
This is the beginning of many conversations. I will be sharing the daily things, the difficult things, and the things we are figuring out as autism moms. If you have a comment, an idea, or a suggestion, email me at connect@kortneytruitt.com. Tell me what you need. Tell me what you would like to see. Your voice helps shape what we build.
Different has always been the design. You do not have to worry that your experience sounds weird or that your idea does not belong here. I want to hear it, and I will take it into consideration.
Because without you, there is no us.
